French School 17th Century
Miniature oil on card Portrait of a young man of age 17 (AETA) with the date 1607 . Dressed in a grey silk doublet with bold verticle red band detail with white collar. The letters AEGIDIVS to the left which is an old abbreviation from old french word Gilles in Greek latin meaning " the protecing" or kid skin, the name Grelain to the right Gilles Grelain?. this small portrait housed within an ornate polychromed oak oval frame.
