Highly Unusual Frog Snuff 1800s


This very Interesting piece of treen is pretty unusual in the sense of most snuff boxes tend to open
from the bottom or top.. where as this piece which is modeled as a rather bulbous frog opens from
the top half like a lid .. Its to big for a pocket snuff also with the lid construction would be impractible with contents probably being lost in the pocket... possibly more a "one off" table snuff
  although being on the small side.. The Actual wood id now is we believe to be Briar Root (Bruyére) in French  
   which is a very hard and heat resistant wood which traditionally is used for making pipes
   normally found in southern France and the mediterranean.
