An almost identical chest to the one a I sold several years ago the difference being initals of A B 1682 whereas the first chest initials D A M 1682 , identical size shape & design. From the Devon Exeter workshop where

Thomas Dennis & William Searle crafted their skills and trade before emigrating to America 
  where they continued to make these historically notable chests. Triple panelled chest 
   typical devon S scroll work to top frieze rail,foliage carved work emanates from each lozenge
   on each panel ,with no loss to height, colour and patination good , Uncommon / Rare chest
    regarding the England American connection of early oak in the seventeenth century.
