A small provincial painted oak offertory box , with a primitively carved tree of life design , the lid has a zig zag carved border with a central slot for the coins, at the back of the the box is a handle
during the offertory a priest or one of his clergy would of held this for charitable gifts (money) for the poor and also the church..
