Apostles Oak Sculpture Germany C.1500

Two oak apostles from a retable, flat backs the pair standing on polygonal plinths . The younger left apostle with shoulder length hair blessing the chalice probably John the Evangelist, the older  looking apostle with a long pointed beard his head tilted slightly looking downwards holding a book
in his right hand, symbolic instrument lacking from his left hand possibly a sword ? for  Paul or Key for  Peter ? Both apostles facial features carved with realism, the folds on each apostles cloaks deeply carved with vertical folds . Height of each  42cm Width of each 14cm
Origins Germany 
Late 15th Century Early 16th Century.
